Fiona Wylde SUP Distance Race Training

3x SUP World Champion, Fiona Wylde tore her shoulder in April 2022. She had surgery in June 2022 and had to sit out the entire 2022 season. After a long year of physical therapy and training, Fiona is back on the water and ready for the 2023 season ahead. Her last race was the ICF World Championships in Poland in September 2021, where she won both the Distance and the Technical Racing World Titles.

Here, Fiona takes us through a stand up paddle distance race training day on the water. She shares her goals, observations, how she manages Type 1 Diabetes, and a little bit of personal insight into her shoulder recovery.

"On one hand it feels like it's been a long road to get here, and on the other it feels like time as passed very quickly. I have learned a lot during this injury and this recovery process, but I am very happy with where I am right now, both physically and mentally. It's been a long time since I have Stand Up Paddle Raced, so I can't create too many expectations for myself, but I guarantee that I am excited to be racing soon and I look forward to giving it my best! Thank you to everybody who supports me, wouldn't be possible without you!"
